Burning of the Ships Day + Parade

The Commemoration Day Parade, affectionately known by many as the Losers’ Day Parade, is a local favorite and draws visitors from all over to view the festive spectacle. It commemorates the British Raid on Essex during the War of 1812 when the British burned 27 ships in Essex Harbor. Parade step off is at 2:00 from the Essex Town Hall and is led by the Essex Sailing Masters of 1812.
