Essex, the seaport village in which our Inn is located, is situated in the lower Connecticut River Valley which has been deemed one of the "Last Great Places" by the Nature Consevancy. The town is nestled on the banks of the majestic Connecticut River which is a mere 50 yards from our front door! Our charming village is filled with unique shops, galleries and beautifully restored sea captains homes. The surrounding area is interesting to explore as well.

Our dining rooms can accommodate small or large tour groups. We have a variety of menu choices and our highly-trained staff will work to make sure that your group leaves having had a memorable experience. Whether The Griswold Inn is your final destination or a stop on the way to other attractions, let us help make your tour a success. Please contact Lauri Makuck, our Private Events and Tour Manager, by email at or by calling 860.767.1776.
